Bad Breath

Bad breath is a very common problem - there are many different causes:

  • Food caught between the teeth and on the tongue rots and causes an unpleasant smell
  • Smoking
  • Illnesses such as nasal and stomach conditions
  • Persistent bad breath caused by the smelly gases released by the bacteria that coat your teeth and gums

Correct and regular brushing and tongue scraping is very important to keep your breath smelling fresh. Your tongue should be scraped until it is pink and the white/yellow film is totally removed.

The bacteria on our teeth and gums (plaque) also causes gum disease and dental decay.

Regular visits to your dentist will help prevent bad breath and your dentist can look for and treat gum disease and tooth decay.
